Showing up

I've never had any issues getting up early and getting a lot of miles in. Ten to fifteen miles before 8am? No problem.
It's waiting to do those miles that gnaws at me.
I would rather get them in before the sun comes up and be able to accomplish other things during the day. I've realized that sometimes it has gotten to the point where my long runs have become one more thing to check off my to do list instead of being about self-care (which they were originally intended for).
Branching out into the running community here has helped with this. I don't need accountability to run. I need accountability to make it a fun, enjoyable process instead of just "getting in the miles." I need to be able to enjoy the sunshine, being outside, and the feeling of doing something FOR ME instead of thinking about my next task.
Yesterday a majority of my running group were gone at various races. But I still showed up and I'm glad I did. I ran on a different trail, talked to different people, and got to enjoy the sunshine.
I showed up. And isn't that all you can really do in the end? :)
