Today was a test as to whether or not my speed work is doing anything. Today was October's Nielsen Challenge.

This is the 2 mile race that happens once a month in Monument Valley Park, COS. You show up, you get a bib number and your race YOURSELF. I love everything about this. The whole community is usually there- runners at all different stages.

Since ADT, I've scaled back in mileage, continued my regular strength training, and also thrown in a few days of speed work. I've been doing that for a little under a month..which honestly isn't that long. However, I was hoping that it would help me today. It DID.

I set a new PR today and shaved two seconds off my time. :)

It is a grand thing to see hard work pay off. If I can keep that speed up during the 5K I'm running next month, I'll be well under my goal of 23 minutes.

Besides a new PR, I also got to see some of my favorite people. A perfect day ;)
